About Neural Learning Associates

When Manny Pereira responded to his first bank robbery as a young FBI agent, he was shocked to learn that a teller had been stabbed in the chest by a robber with an ink pen. While the wound was only superficial, he learned that the teller had frozen during the robbery and wasn't moving fast enough to suit the frantic drug user who wanted to leave in a hurry. Later as the Security Director for one of California's largest financial institutions, he came across more and more financial institution employees who related post traumatic stress symptoms such as not being able to sleep after surviving a bank robbery.  One teller explained that she could no longer drive down the main road in town that passed by the branch she used to work at after surviving a relatively mild takeover robbery.  A pregnant teller related a story of how she was slapped because she started to cry during a robbery.  One long term stellar performing employee informed her HR department after a lengthy workman's comp absence that she refused to return to work as she felt the financial institution hadn't prepared her for how terrifying a robbery could be nor could they guarantee her that she wouldn't become a victim in a future robbery.  Every year, dozens of tellers are taken hostage during a robbery and many  are injured at the hands of the robbers. Many banks and credit unions best defense against is to keep their fingers crossed hoping that they won't be next.  We believe that we have a better way!

Over the past 3 years we have conducted over 75 mock robberies which have successfully prepared hundreds of employees for the ever present threat of a bank robbery.  In the words of one robbery training expert, "financial institutions don't realize that the employee's who suffer the most during a robbery are most the employees who care the most about the bank they work for, the one's who are the most valuable to the institution.  In my experience, the employee's who consider their position just another job, are far less affected."  Take care of your most valuable assets, your employees who care.
